Książka z serii : Deutsche Dialektgeographie, H. VI. Język dolnoniemiecki na pn. od Warmii. W przeciwieństwie do np. Gdańska, Elbląga i prowincji nadbałtyckich, w pozostałych częściach pn. Niemiec, gdzie był on używany, stosunkowo późno pojawiły się dokumenty pisane w tym języku, a i wtedy rzadko były to dokumenty urzędowe, „poważne”. Największy zbiór tekstów pisanych w języku dolnoniemieckim stanowiły wiersze weselne z 17. i 18. w. za czasów autora przechowywane w bibliotece Uniwersytetu w Królewcu (najstarszy z 1751 r.)
