  Jesus Christ treated the sick in a special way, healing their diseases and weaknesses (Matt 4: 23). The Church, faithful to the command of her Founder, continually engages in the ministry of the sick and suffering, regarding this ministry as an integral part of her mission. This type of ser-vice needs to become a priority especially in a prosperous and efficient society, in a culture char-acterized by idolatry of the body, dismissal of suffering and pain and by the myth of perennial youth (EiE 88). How is the ministry of the sick carried out in Poland? Does the pastoral work, on the one hand, take into account a normative dimension, contained in the Revelation and the Magisterium of the Church, as well as read the emerging signs of the times on the other? The author of the paper has compared selected guidelines of the Magisterium of the Church with the results of the sociolog-ical research he conducted in 1998 and replicated in 2014, in order to show how this ministry has changed over 16 years. The author also wishes to point out to the need for actions that would com-ply with the Magisterium and respond to the challenges of the modern day.;
  Jak jest realizowane w Polsce duszpasterstwo chorych rozumiane jako działalność Kościoła zmierzająca do udzielenia wszechstronnej pomocy osobom przeżywającym doświadczenie choroby i cierpienia? Czy podejmowane w jego ramach działania z jednej strony biorą pod uwagę wymiar normatywny zawarty w Objawieniu i Magisterium Kościoła, a drugiej strony odczytanie pojawiających się znaków czasu? Autor artykułu postanowił zestawić ze sobą wybrane wskazania Magisterium Kościoła z wynikami prowadzonych przez siebie w 1998 roku i powtórzonych w 2014 roku badań socjologicznych, aby ukazać, jak na przestrzeni 16 lat zmieniło się to duszpasterstwo. Pragnie on też uwypuklić konieczność podjęcia takich działań, aby było ono wierne wskazaniom Magisterium i wyzwaniom współczesności.
