  Human capital has become a significant factor of the economic development of a region today. What plays a crucial role in the formation of this capital is the level of education of the region’s population, and this is closely connected with the development of education, especially higher education. The aim of this paper is to analyse the development of higher education in Lubuskie voivodeship as a factor determining the quality of human capital. The research procedure focuses on the development of higher education as measured by the size of its institutional-organisational base, student enrolment, and academic staff.;
  Współcześnie istotnym czynnikiem rozwoju gospodarczego regionu staje się kapitał ludzki. Istotną rolę w kształtowaniu kapitału ludzkiego odgrywa poziom wykształcenia ludności regionu. Poziom wykształcenia wiąże się ściśle z rozwojem edukacji, szczególnie w zakresie szkolnictwa wyższego. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest analiza rozwoju szkolnictwa wyższego w województwie lubuskim jako czynnika warunkującego kształtowanie się kapitału ludzkiego. W postępowaniu badawczym analizie poddaje się rozwój szkolnictwa wyższego mierzonego wielkością jego bazy instytucjonalno-organizacyjnej, liczbą studentów i kadrą naukowo-dydaktyczną.
