  The twentieth century, especially its first half, is a period of preaching crisis. Lack of success in the pulpit at that time had a wide range of causes. The article highlights the loosening of the ties between the preachers of God’s Word and the Scriptures themselves. Lack of the content of the revelation in the church preaching led to losses in the spiritual life of the faithful. The preaching theorists of this period pointed to the necessity of studying the Holy Scriptures for ascetic and homiletic purposes. They postulated regular reading and reflection on the word of God, which was to result in the success in the pulpit. In their teaching, they indicated the models of preachers who had based their teaching on the grounds of the Holy Scriptures. Unfortunately, between the theory urging the return to the most valuable source – the Bible, and the preaching practice, there was a large dissonance, which certainly did not contribute to overcoming the crisis experienced by the Polish preaching field.;
  Wiek XX, a szczególnie pierwsza jego połowa, to okres kryzysu kaznodziejstwa. Brak powodzenia ambony w tym czasie miał szerokie spektrum przyczyn. W artykule została zwrócona uwaga na rozluźnienie więzi zaistniałe pomiędzy głosicielami słowa Bożego a samym Pismem Świętym. Brak treści objawionej w przepowiadaniu kościelnym prowadził do strat w życiu duchowym wiernych. Teoretycy kaznodziejstwa omawianego okresu wskazywali na konieczność studium Pisma Świętego w celach ascetycznych i homiletycznych. Postulowali regularne czytanie i rozmyślanie słowa Bożego, co miało skutkować powodzeniem na ambonie. Wskazywali wzory kaznodziejów opierających swe nauczanie na kanwie Pisma Świętego. Niestety pomiędzy teorią przynaglającą do powrotu do najcenniejszego źródła – Biblii a praktyką kaznodziejską panował duży dysonans, co z pewnością nie przyczyniło się do zażegnania kryzysu, jakiego doświadczyła polska niwa kaznodziejska.
