Centesimus annus była głosem Kościoła, który, zgodnie z naturą własnej nauki społecznej i jej profetyczno-krytyczną specyfiką, ma prawo do wydawania osądu w sprawach społecznych. Publikacja pokazuje różne aspekty profetyzmu encykliki, podkreślając jej ponadczasowość i aktualność.
