  The article brought to the attention of the reader analyzes the positions of various countries of the world on the eve of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Since 2014, Ukraine has been in a state of undeclared war with Russia, which led to the occupation of Crimea and part of the territories of Donbas. After that, the war continued to smolder after the signing of the Minsk Agreements in 2015. At the end of 2021, there were signs that the Russian Federation was preparing for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which was publicly announced by US President J. Biden. For several months, the formation of a coalition of Western countries took place with the aim of providing military assistance to Ukraine to prevent the development of the conflict. The article examines the position of key Western states regarding the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and its evolution during this period of time. Ukraine played the role of a catalyst for establishing the unity of the West. An extremely important role in the implementation of the consolidation of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance was played by the US leadership, which used a new approach – the release of intelligence data to influence the enemy's decisions. In addition, the mistakes made by Western countries since 2008, which made Russia’s invasion of Ukraine possible, were analyzed. The article examines the attitude of the population of Ukraine and Russia to the problem based on sociological surveys that confirm the falsity of Russian narratives about the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The coverage of the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war in the Western media on the eve of the invasion was analyzed. The author analyzed V. Putin’s worldview and the reasons for his decision to attack Ukraine. The topic considered in the publication is of great value to the reader in connection with the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war and allows one to understand the circumstances that preceded the invasion.;
  Запропонована до уваги читача стаття аналізує позиції різних країн світу напередодні російського широкомасштабного вторгнення в Україну 24 лютого 2022 р. Починаючи з 2014 р. Україна знаходилась у стані неоголошеної війни з Росією, що призвело до окупації Криму та частини територій Донбасу. Після цього війна продовжувала тліти після підписання Мінських домовленостей у 2015 р. Наприкінці 2021 р. з’явилися ознаки підготовки Російської Федерації до повномасштабного вторгнення в Україну, про що було публічно оголошено президентом США Дж. Байденом. Протягом декількох місяців відбувалося формування коаліції західних держав з метою надати військову допомогу Україні щоб попередити розгортання конфлікту. У статті розглянуто позицію ключових західних держав щодо російсько-українського конфлікту та її еволюцію у цей проміжок часу. Україна відіграла роль каталізатора для утвердження єдності Заходу. Надзвичайно важливу роль у здійсненні консолідації країн Північноатлантичного альянсу відіграло керівництво США, яке використало новий підхід – оприлюднення розвідувальних даних для впливу на рішення супротивника. Окрім того проаналізовано помилки які були допущені країнами Заходу починаючи з 2008 р., що зробили можливим вторгнення Росії в Україну. В статті розглянуто ставлення населення України та Росії до проблеми на основі соціологічних опитувань які підтверджують хибність російських наративів про російсько-український конфлікт. Проаналізовано висвітлення загострення російсько-української війни у західних ЗМІ напередодні вторгнення. Автором проаналізовано світогляд В. Путіна та причини прийняття їм рішення нападу на Україну. Розглянута у публікації тема представляє велику цінність для читача у зв’язку з ескалацією російсько-української війни та дозволяє зрозуміти обставини які передували вторгненню.
