  Changes in the structure of fields of education (curricula) have been taking place in Polish higher education since the beginning of the nineties. Interest in economic and economic-related studies has increased greatly, whereas interest in technical studies has declined. In the first part of the article, the authors discuss these changes and compare them with the changes in the European Union countries. The second part of the article refers to selected results of surveys of educational biographies. The results show the educational and vocational paths of students and graduates representing of economic, and economic-related, and technical courses. From these surveys, one may cautiously conclude that graduates of economic and technical studies have divergent paths of secondary education, varying vocational work experience during their study period, and a varying start in working life following completion of higher education.;
  Od początku lat dziewięćdziesiątych w polskim szkolnictwie wyższym zachodzą zmiany w strukturze kierunków kształcenia. W okresie tym w sposób znaczący wzrosło zainteresowanie kierunkami studiów ekonomicznych i pokrewnych, zmniejszyło się natomiast - kierunkami technicznymi. W pierwszej części artykułu autorki omówiły te zmiany i porównały je ze zmianami zachodzącymi w krajach Unii Europejskiej. W drugiej części nawiązały do wybranych wyników badań biogramów edukacyjnych. Prezentowane wyniki dotyczą przebiegu ścieżek edukacyjnych i zawodowych studentów, a także absolwentów kierunków ekonomicznych i pokrewnych oraz technicznych. Z badań tych można ostrożnie wnioskować, że absolwentów omawianych kierunków ekonomicznych i technicznych różnicuje droga edukacyjna na poziomie średnim, aktywność zawodowa podejmowana w czasie studiów oraz przejście ze szkolnictwa wyższego do rynku pracy.
